THE GABLE

A Dramatic Portrait Haven with Mid-Century Soul and Moody European Undertones

ABOUT

THE GABLE

The Gable is 155 square feet drenched in deep navy from floor to ceiling, creating a cocoon of contrast ideal for elevated editorial portraiture. With sloped ceilings and vintage architectural angles, the space leans into its attic heritage while offering the sophistication of a European flat or luxury boutique suite.

Designed modularly, the room features a sculptural ivory boucle sofa—low, plush, and impossibly photogenic. A rust corduroy accent chair sits framed in the dormer nook, surrounded by hand-stamped navy-and-clay stenciling. Perfect for cozy lifestyle captures, pensive boudoir posing, or a storytelling moment. Sculpted ceramic lighting, raw wood details, and the occasional leafy houseplant complete the space with warmth and intentionality.

Key Features:

  • Two large east facing skylights

  • Large south-facing second-story window

  • Crafted, plaster stenciled dormer nook

  • Minimalist boucle lounge sofa + rust accent seating

  • Textured rugs, walnut wood door, and curated props

  • Designed modularly - all elements can be placed as you wish

Best For:

  • Family or individual portraits with elevated color

  • Dramatic fashion + editorial sets

  • Deep mood boudoir

  • Maternity sessions that play with light and shape

  • Creatives wanting deep tones, sculptural furniture, and atmosphere

A cozy corner with a rust-colored velvet armchair and a small pillow, situated near a window with a pop of greenery outside, decorated with patterned blue wallpaper and a ceiling light fixture.

Lighting

The lighting is best midday and early afternoon, and brightest in the morning with direct light coming in very bright from the large east skylights. The south facing dormer window gets bright indirect light in the late afternoon and evening - at that time, the skylights deepen significantly. We have shaded skylight screens that greatly reduce the sunlight available to insert, you can find them in the bathroom - we can help install them too (they’re tricky).

Usage

You are free to move everything around and arrange the decor!

We have things set in ways we think are cool but go for it! Anything can be moved, just be careful with florals and hangs. You are also welcome to open doors, shoot through windows, be creative! Please just be mindful of the open areas, kitchen, bathroom, etc. If you want some help just ask, don’t be shy!

Decor and Resources:

There is a bathroom in the Gable unit that can be shared with the Attic unit, at your discretion. If you are comfortable allowing another studio guest to use and they ask please do.

The Gable includes a 67” wide modern sculpted boucle ivory loveseat, a modern corduroy upholstered chair, a cream toned upholstered chair, golden drapes against the west wall, a stool and a navy color drench.

A color palette with six circles arranged horizontally, labeled from left to right as White, Ivory, Beige, Terracotta, Gold, and Navy Blue, on a light beige background. The title above reads "The Gable Color Palette."
